SLS 1501 -  Honors Introduction to Academic Life

Course Description

Required for first-year University Honors Program students, this course is designed to enhance your success in college by equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve your educational objectives. Topics include the nature of postsecondary education, time management, test-taking, communication skills, study techniques, and library use.

Additionally, the course fosters a sense of community and belonging through the UHP common hour and provides small group and one-on-one support from upper-class UHP students who can mentor you on study strategies, navigating college life, and campus involvement. 

UHP Common Read

The UHP Common Read, The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, has been selected as the required text for all SLS 1501 sections for the 2024 and 2025 academic years and will be provided to all students.
