NCHA 2024
What is the NCHA?
The National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a nationally recognized research survey that is sponsored and distributed by the American College Health Association (ACHA). This survey allows universities to assess a wide range of health-related topics in order to collect data about their students’ health habits, behaviors, and perceptions. Survey topics include:
- Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use
- Sexual health
- Weight, nutrition, and exercise
- Mental health
- Personal safety and violence
- Health conditions
- COVID-19
How can I get involved?
All FAU students will receive the National College Health Assessment! Students should expect to receive this survey via email from the American College Health Association between Feb 5 - Feb 26, 2024.
The NCHA-Web is completed online via the Internet. We encourage you to complete the survey in one sitting, which typically takes about 20-30 minutes.
Receive a Florida Atlantic Decal!
The first 5,000 students who complete the survey are eligible for a vinyl Florida Atlantic decal. Those students will receive instructions in their FAU email to pick up their decal after submitting the completed survey.
How is this information used?
FAU participates in the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) sponsored and distributed by the American College Health Association (ACHA). The ACHA-NCHA is a survey designed to assess student health behaviors in order to provide better services and support for FAU students across all campuses. Your participation will assist in providing accurate information regarding health and wellness behaviors on our campus. This information will be used to develop and enhance wellness programs and services at FAU based upon the responses and perceived severity of need in specific topic areas.
Privacy:
Your participation is completely voluntary and confidential. To ensure confidentiality, e-mail addresses are destroyed by ACHA before data are compiled and shared with FAU. The raw data file that is shared with FAU will not contain any unique identifiers. If you feel that answering specific demographic questions might reveal your identity, you may leave them blank. You may answer only some questions, or you may choose not to participate in the survey at all. Any reports or publications based on this research will use only group data and will not identify you or any individual as being affiliated with this project.
Note: There may be some personal discomfort with the content of certain questions. For example, there are questions regarding illegal substance use, interpersonal violence, and sexual behavior. If you are ever upset by any of the questions within the survey, please contact Counseling & Psychological Services at 561.297.2277.
